Higher education in Thailand has continued to expand, with universities striving to enhance their capacity to produce quality graduates who are competitive at both the national and international levels. This growing international competition necessitates that academic programs attain international accreditation and recognition through the development of academic networks and collaborations, as well as the continual improvement of curricula to meet global standards accepted by educational institutions and organizations worldwide.
In response to these developments, Silpakorn University Council approved the establishment of the International College in 2003 as an autonomous unit under the university. The College was founded with the mission to provide international programs that emphasize quality, efficiency, and effectiveness in producing globally competent graduates. It also serves as a center for academic exchange and collaboration with higher education institutions abroad.
In its initial phase, the International College began offering classes in the academic year 2003 at the Phetchaburi Information Technology Campus. Subsequently, in 2005, the College expanded its operations to the Office of the President, Taling Chan, and rented additional space nearby to accommodate the growing number of programs. Later, in the 2018 academic year, the College moved its operations to the CAT Telecom Building (Bang Rak) to further enhance its teaching and learning efficiency. The location in Bangkok’s central business district provided students with greater opportunities for practical learning experiences, including study visits and internships with leading organizations.
Starting from the academic year 2026, the International College will relocate its teaching and learning facilities to Silpakorn University, Muang Thong Thani Campus, to support the expansion of its educational operations. The facilities at the Muang Thong Thani Campus are designed to be modern and fully equipped, providing classrooms, laboratories, and student activity areas that meet contemporary academic needs. The new campus will also accommodate the increasing number of programs and students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
This relocation will further strengthen the College’s academic capacity and educational services, aligning them with international quality standards. It marks an important step toward positioning Silpakorn University International College as a leading international institution that fosters global academic excellence and innovation.
